Mandarin is considered to be the closest citrus fruit to orange. Its small size, its more aromatic flavour, and the fact that it is easy to peel, make this fruit one of the most valued fruits.

VARIETIES
  • Satsuma Owari: 
    It is medium to large in size. The peel is orange, and it is very easy to remove. The flesh is soft and pale orange; it has a high juice content, medium sugar levels, and high sourness. Segments are easily separated from the peel, so it is easy to peel. It is generally seedless. Harvest of this variety starts from week 12 and can be extended beyond week 22 depending on the harvesting area.

  • Satsuma Okitsu:
    It ripens very early, and it is the first one to be harvested. It is small to medium in size. The peel is smooth and yellow, and it is easily removed. It has a high juice content, medium sugar levels, and high levels of sourness. The flesh is soft and deep orange. Segments are easily separated from the peel. It is seedless. It is generally harvested from week 8 to week 15.

  • Marisol Clementine:
    It is small to medium in size, and round in shape. The peel is orange with prominent oil glands, and easy to peel. The flesh has a high juice content, and high levels of sugar and sourness. It is seedless. It ripens very early. Harvest time: during week 11 and 17.

  • Fine Clementine:
    It is a small to medium-sized firm fruit of excellent aroma. The peel is smooth due to its small oil glands. The flesh is deep orange, with a high percentage of juice; it is soft and contains high but balanced levels of sugar and sourness. It is seedless in an isolated growing environment, under pure growing conditions. Harvest time: from week 16 to week 23.

  • Clemenules (Nules Clementine):
    The deep orange flesh is very juicy with a very good flavour. The peel is thick and rough, but it is easy to detach from segments. It is seedless in an isolated growing environment, under pure growing conditions. Harvest time: from week 16 to week 22.
